4 of the BEST Selfie Spots in Fresno

Congratulations! You’ve made it through 2020! But does that mean we are out of COVID’s clutches? Certainly not. And with hundreds of thousands of work schedules shifted at a moment’s notice, it’s no surprise that COVID has taken a toll on our mental health. We can speak from experience that the ever-changing social life in a pandemic can make you somewhat of a Debbie Downer.

If 2020 has been good for one thing, it would be the inventiveness of homegrown hobbies. Photography, out of many, has grown to be a favorite in the past year. Let’s be honest, who can resist a cute pet picture? Certainly not us! With many of us still trapped at home or in a tight routine, taking time on the weekend to mix it up can help lighten the mood – we promise! That’s why we have taken the time to compile a list of the top 4 places in Fresno to photograph.

The iconic Kearny Park is one of Fresno’s hidden gems. It’s most easily recognized for its various events such as the Civil War reenactment, but if you know the right spots to grab a couple of pictures then you could have your next family photo ready to go. In the southwest corner of the park, closest to Kearny Boulevard and Garfield Ave, you can find a stretch of olive trees forming a tunnel making it the IDEAL picture spot. If this doesn’t scream romantic then I don’t know what does.

Choosing only one selfie spot downtown is like picking between cookie dough ice cream and cookies and cream, they’re both so good. Regardless, the Mural District is home to some incredible artwork that can up your selfie game. One of our favorite spots in the district is the Rock and Roll Legends mural on the Majestic Jewelry and Loans co. building.

Similar to Downtown Fresno, Old Town Clovis is home to some remarkable photo locations. Old Town holds a rustic vibe with the majority of buildings crafted out of red brick. BONUS – if you’re deciding the next weekend outing or take out meal, House of JuJu will not disappoint!

For many, COVID has increased stress levels in day to day activities. According to the American Psychology Association, “the average reported stress level for U.S. adults related to the coronavirus pandemic is 5.9. When asked to rate their stress level in general, the average reported stress for U.S. adults is 5.4. This is significantly higher than the average stress level reported in the 2019 Annual Stress in America survey, which was 4.9.” Although this data only shows stress levels for parents, the consensus is clear that COVID is a leading cause of stress in the last year.

If you find yourself experiencing more stress than normal, Shinzen Friendship Garden must be your next weekend outing. The garden is home to some of Fresno’s most spectacular views featuring a deep look into Japanese culture. From bonsai trees to koi fish, Shinzen Friendship Garden is a no brainer when it comes to choosing your next selfie. Planning a visit to the garden is relatively simple as it’s located within Woodward Park.
